High Voltage CT PT Evaluation Setup

The High Voltage CT PT Evaluation Setup is a comprehensive testing and calibration system for current and potential transformers utilized in high voltage substations and switchyards.   

The setup comprises an extensive array of instruments and precision measurement equipment, including a high voltage power supply, turn ratio meter, phase angle meter, multimeter, burden simulator, and digital storage oscilloscope. These devices facilitate the measurement and evaluation of critical parameters such as CT and PT ratios, phase displacement, burden characteristics, polarization index, transient response, and saturation levels under high voltage conditions.   

The system is capable of testing current transformers and potential transformers with primary voltages ranging from 69kV to 765kV, enabling thorough diagnostic assessments of high voltage CTs and PTs in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer specifications.   

Key functions of the evaluation setup:

• Testing of excitation characteristics and turn ratios with an accuracy of ±0.05%   

• Burden testing from 1VA to 1000VA to determine CT loading capability  

• Precision measurement of ratio and phase errors up to ±60 minutes   

• Capture and analysis of transient response waveforms under abnormal conditions

• Identification of saturation at various load levels for optimization of CT performance
